After nearly 40 years of recording and non-stop touring, legendary Aussie pop-band Mental as Anything is as strong as ever.
Their next stop, Belgrave’s Sooki Lounge.
The band emerged in the late 1970s and grew a legion of followers, thanks to their enormously popular hit songs, as well as a select group of covers including a Chuck Berry classic.
Not only did the band achieve many hit singles, its music also featured in hit ’80s films such as Crocodile Dundee and Young Einstein.
In 2009 the band was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame.
Band mainstays Martin Plaza and Greedy Smith are always writing songs, which means there will be plenty of new material for fans, as well as the classics.
The latest offering is a five-track MP featuring the Mentals’ current line-up of Greedy Smith, Martin Cilia from the Atlantics on guitar, Jacob Cook on drums and James Gillard (Mondo Rock, Casey Chambers).
The five songs are written by Greedy and Martin, which show the range and depth of ‘two lifetimes’ in pop songwriting.
The singles released include Shake off your Sandals and Goat Tracks in my Sandpit.
In addition, check out just some of their mega hits – Nips are Getting Bigger, Live it Up, Rock and Roll Music, Just Like Romeo and Juliet, Mr Natural, Didn’t Mean to be Mean and truckloads more.
Mental as Anything will perform at the Sooki Lounge in Belgrave on Thursday 9 February.
Tickets are $30 presale or $35 for door sales.
Tickets are available at the venue or visit www.sookilounge.com.au.
