A TRADITIONAL Christmas lunch with all the trimmings is taken for granted by many families.
But for those less fortunate, the annual Ferntree Gully Community Christmas Day Lunch is a gift.
Organiser Stephen Barrington said the free lunch assisted those who were struggling financially or would otherwise spend Christmas alone.
“Over the past few years the lunch has brought great joy to many local residents, who would, otherwise, have had a very lonely time,” he said.
“The highlights have been seeing the face of children and adults light up, and the sounds of joy and laughter as people celebrate together.”
The lunch will be held St John the Baptist Parish Hall in Forest Road from midday on Christmas Day.
People can donate presents or food for those in need at community giving trees at Ferntree Gully Bendigo Community Bank and Wattleview and Ferntree Gully North primary schools.
More information on tickets and volunteering is available by calling Stephen Barrington on 8711 8677 or sending an email to foothills@optusnet.com.au.
