MOUNT Evelyn’s Kuranga Native Nursery has taken out its second top industry award in three years.
The garden supplier last week took the title of 2009 Best Garden Centre in Victoria. Kuranga also won the award in 2007 and was runner-up last year.
The centre, which started in 1983 in Ringwood, has operated in Mount Evelyn for four years.
Kuranga will now compete in the national nursery and garden industry awards, to be judged today (Tuesday). The winners will be announced at a presentation next month.
Owners Leanne Weston and Evan Clucas said it was fantastic to win the top award again, and that it was amazing to receive so many awards in such a short time. “It’s good to be recognised,” Mr Clucas.
He said the awards were testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff. “They go above and beyond the line of duty to help any customer,” he said.
The garden centre offers a wide range of native plants, with more than 3500 varieties.
