Art of the lost

By Casey Neill
A MOUNT Evelyn art exhibition carries an important environmental message.
Leonie Williams, Mira Robinson and Merran Berry created Going, Going, Gone … to get people thinking about the impact their actions have on the environment.
“Our work is a lot to do with exactly what’s happening in the world today and the environmental changes and things that are disappearing,” Ms Robinson said.
“We’re very conscious to try to bring that to people’s attention. Most people know about it but it doesn’t hurt to have it in their face.”
The exhibition features 25 framed acrylic and collage artworks and jewellery from the Waverley Arts Society trio.
Ms Williams, from Monbulk, concentrates on the ancient goddesses and civilisations.
Ms Robinson depicts endangered species and Berry contemplates the passing of time and how choices affect the future.
Going, Going, Gone … is on display at Mount Evelyn Exhibition Space, The Station House, 50Wray Crescent, Mount Evelyn until 29 August.
Viewers can meet the artists from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday 7 August and 2pm to 4pm on Sunday 29 August.
