A 15-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist was lucky to survive a collision with a car in Mount Evelyn last week.
Acting Sergeant Graeme Rust said Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol attended the scene on Hereford Road, 150 metres north of Rangeview Road, about 6.15pm on Monday 26 July.
The Lilydale boy was riding an unregistered off-road motorcycle without headlights on when he collided with the car. The 26-year-old Seville driver was not injured.
Paramedics found the boy confused, lying on the road with a very deep cut to his left knee bleeding heavily, a deep cut to his chin, grazes across his chest and a suspected left knee fracture.
“It was very lucky he had the helmet on,” Act Sgt Rust said.
He was not wearing other riding equipment. Police will investigate the incident.
The boy remained in a stable condition in the Royal Children’s Hospital Monday afternoon.
