Jones emerges as supreme

By Dennis Fuller
PETER Jones reigned supreme in excellent conditions at the Emerald Golf Club on Saturday.
Jones (13), who whipped out his second 40 plus score in two weeks, took the over-all and C Grade titles.
Andy Smith (13) put in a good one in his roller coaster form to win A Grade with 36 points.
Peter Clowes (16) would have been surprised and delighted that his 34 points was good enough for a B Grade win.
Others to manage reasonable scores were Steve Miller and Graham White on 37 points, Ross Martin 35, R. Wilson 34 while D. Harvey and Martin Yeats both scored 32.
Nearest the pins were won by White on the 12th, Clowes the 13th, Smith the 17th while Greg Haymes made a successful return after a lay-off by winning the pro pin on the 18th.
The contest on Wednesday was won by 79-year-old Kevin Miller who, with the assistance of his 41 handicap, scored 45 points to incur the wrath of the handicapper.
Mark Lothian came in next with 43 and Rod Shaw cleaned up the opposition in the pitch and putt comp.
Next Saturday is the October monthly medal competition.
