Sweet success for Sherbrooke sides

THE 2007 soccer season ended on the weekend with a number of Sherbrooke Rangers teams finishing with their hands on the silverware.
The men’s Forest side won their third consecutive title and will now play in Division One next season.
The men’s Hoods side, comprising mostly of last year’s Under 18 side, went through their inaugural season undefeated to claim the Division Six championship.
The U13 Sharks also went through undefeated to record back to back premierships.
The U11 Power improved on last season’s fourth position to take runners up in a very even competition.
The U11 Bears reversed a 0-4 loss earlier in the season by beating Croydon 2-1 to clinch the championship.
Many of the Bears’ games were decided by only one goal but they have maintained excellent concentration and persistence through the year to secure a well-deserved flag which is back to back for many of the players as well as coach Leo Stauber.
The U12A Gypsyz overran a depleted Brighton team to secure the flag in the Girls Metro competition. It was an outstanding result as only a few weeks ago they were placed sixth.
In other results, the U15 Pythons demolished Croydon who beat the top team the previous week by 7-1.
After leading 5-0 at half time the coach gave opportunities to some defenders to get a taste of the forward positions. Jacco Kerstens scored a hat trick in the first 20 minutes.
The U13C Saphyrz girls earned an excellent 1-1 draw against a team that thrashed them 8-0 earlier in the year.
