THE Emerald senior side started very strong and kept up with a taller and stronger South Belgrave side. Luckily for the Emerald boys, South Belgrave were a little stray with their kicking, scoring 3.7 to Emerald’s three goals straight.
The second quarter saw an Emerald side come out and attack the football however South Belgrave started to take control towards the second half. The third and fourth quarters were totally dominated by South Belgrave as they ran away and scored at ease. The second quarter was a more closely contested quarter where Emerald managed to convert 2.1 to South Belgrave’s 1.6.
The third quarter saw a very determined South Belgrave run out and took control of the quarter by scoring 5.3 and kept Emerald scoreless. This left Emerald behind 1 solitary point going into the last quarter.
Emerald regrouped in the last quarter and managed to contain South Belgrave’s run on game. With only a minute to go, Emerald’s 1 point lead was taken away by South Belgrave as they scored seconds from the final siren to have them run out 5 point victors.
