School proud of ambience

TUCKED away in Belgrave, St Thomas More Primary School is one of the area’s best-kept secrets.
A recent face-lift to the school with wonderful refurbishments to all classrooms, as well as the surrounding grounds, has parents, staff and students beaming. It’s something to be proud of.
As a Catholic school, with fewer than 200 students, it is able to provide an environment of faith, knowledge and consideration for others, offering care and attention to individuals that only a small school can offer.
Peer support, buddy system, social skills, resilience and anti bullying programs enhance students’ day-to-day experience and prepare them to be good citizens of the future. Children want to come to this school!
The school prides itself on a community that is supportive of each other with dedicated teachers and parents, working side by side to create a spirit of belonging while providing the best comprehensive education possible for students.
The school caters for different learning styles and affirms the whole child. Children’s learning constantly enriches and broadens their sense of the world in which they live.
The new Victorian Essential Learning curriculum is well underway. Computers and a well-equipped library also enhance children’s learning.
Performing and visual arts are very popular with a school concert every second year.
Children are able to learn instruments and the school is proud of its two bands and choirs
St Thomas More Primary School offers a most successful physical education program.
Children at this school are more often than not successful in sporting competitions and the school produces both local as well as statewide champions.
The school has a commitment to small size classes in the junior school, and as a feeder school to Mater Christi and St Joseph’s Colleges, class sizes in 2007 will be kept to a minimum in year five-six (currently 20) to facilitate good preparation and transition to secondary school.
For enrolment information contact the school on 9754 4444.
