Upwey-Tecoma tops the table

UPWEY-Tecoma’s third side, playing at home, toppled ladder leaders Bayswater, last Sunday and climbed into the top spot.
Dieter Eick and his team of Peter Kornow, Paul Hutchinson and Elaine Shepherd, put in a rink of the week award sterling effort to record a 17 shots lead to triumph.
George Simons and his team of Leigh Robinson, Ron Meers and Gretal Kornow continued their winning form to finish with five shots up.
With four games to play to end the current bowls season, and the top two sides to play out the final, this side has every chance of bringing home a premiership flag.
Upwey-Tecoma’s Division Three side, also playing at home, dominated proceedings from the start to finish with another big win over Cranbourne.
Highlight of the day was a brilliant display by 11-year-old Liam Gray.
Promoted to play lead for Damien Jones, Gray consistently set up the head by putting pressure on his older opponent with bowls within centimetres of the jack.
The David Jones skipped team was the best performed in this side finishing with a 15 shots win. Greg Blades and Tom Perry also produced good wins.
The Division Six side journeyed to Riversdale Golf Bowls Club and were defeated by a margin of nine shots.
The Simon Gringhuis team were the best performed of this side with Tim Sutherland showing promise in his first game at this level.

Division 3: Upwey-Tecoma d Cranbourne 107-81.
Division 6: Upwey-Tecoma lost to Riversdale 88-97; Side 3: Upwey-Tecoma d Bayswater 51-29.
