Allure of pearls

By Libby Wood
LUSTROUS Tahitian black pearls, South Seas and cultured pearls, pearl jewellery and settings make a stunning display at Tiare Black Pearl in Olinda.
Visitors will be mesmerised by these beautiful Tahitian cultured pearls which come in shades of soft black through champagne grey, eggplant, bronze and deep green to cream, pink and gold, either loose or set in 18 carat white or yellow gold.
Amber and semi-precious stones, crystals, sterling silver and shell jewellery, Tahitian liqueurs, oils and soaps are also on display.
At Tiare Black Pearl, customers can choose an 18 carat gold setting and an individual pearl from more than 2000 quality black pearls and have this assembled for them within an hour.
Tiare Black Pearl is an initiative of Alan and Winnie Maguire, wholesale pearl traders for the past five years.
With clients throughout Australia and overseas and the retail shop in Olinda since November 2003, Alan and Winnie have established an enviable reputation in the industry.
They exhibit pearls at the Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney Fine Jewellery fairs.
Between them, Winnie and Alan speak fluent Cantonese, French and Spanish.
Each year they travel to Tahiti to purchase pearls direct from the pearl farmers and have just returned from a buying trip to Bangkok, Hong Kong and Shanghai where they secured exquisite 18 carat gold chains, sterling silver and semi-precious stone jewellery, including beautiful pieces in red coral, rainbow jade and lemon topaz as well as a new range of men’s jewellery.
Relax in the unique township of Olinda in the picturesque Dandenong Ranges and make sure you spend some time browsing through the beautiful jewellery and display at Tiare Black Pearl.
Tiare Black Pearl is at Shop 4, 47-53 Olinda Monbulk Road (next to Pie in the Sky) and is open 11am to 5pm seven days a week.
