HILLS tennis fans heading off to the Australia Open this week can enjoy free tram travel in Melbourne.
For the first time, Yarra Trams and Tennis Australia have joined together to offer anyone with an Australian Open ticket free travel on any tram service in Melbourne on the day the ticket is valid.
Yarra Trams chief executive officer Dennis Cliche said the free tram rides will give tennis fans the opportunity to catch public transport to the event.
Mr Cliche said the free ticket to ride on the trams will also reduce traffic and parking hassles.
Hills people catching public transport to the Australian Open can hop on a train to Flinders Street Station and then get a free tram ride on the Route 70 tram to Melbourne Park.
