AFTER months of preparation, the long awaited Blessed Earth range of wool mattresses, futons, toppers, quilts and pillows is now available.
“Some so-called wool bedding products can contain inferior cuts of wool held together with resin,” said Raithe Handiman, proprietor of Blessed Earth in Selby.
“That is how they can be sold cheaply, in much the same way that particle board is cheaper than timber.
“However, over time, the brittle resinous fibres tend to break down, go hard and lumpy and become a haven for house dust mites.
“At Blessed Earth we use only AAA white Suffolk fleece wool, scoured organically at the CSIRO using bio-degradable detergents.
“This wool affords supreme comfort with long-term resilience,” he said.
Raithe said that all the wool products sold at Blessed Earth are covered with organic cotton.
“Other features of our wool are that it is great for allergy and eczema sufferers, it is fire resistant and therefore safer for children, it is bio-degradable and can be composted and it has a pleasant aroma, unlike conventional wool which contains chemical residues.”
It looks like Blessed Earth will be at Selby for a little longer, before relocating north to Noosa, so call in to see the merits of this exceptional and unique Australian-made range.
