UPWEY-Tecoma’s new recruits Kevin Gamel and Georgie Button combined with veteran Mal Osborne last Wednesday to excel in the triples competition at the Alexander Avenue home of the Upwey-Tecoma Tigers.
Gamel, who recently transferred from Boronia Bowls Club, and playing as skip in this competition, was full of praise for Button who is a relative newcomer to the sport and Osborne for their continual drawing to the jack and so blocking their opponent’s entry to the head.
This trio finished with a resounding 16 shots up overall win to take out the triples section.
The pairs competition also produced some great bowling when current club champion Robin Southern paired with Gretal Kornow to finish the day with a four shots overall win while Paul Hutchinson and Ron Pankhurst took the honours with their 11 shots up.
Winner of the Upwey Butchers award went to Terry Button and the Upwey Barbers award to Deiter Eick.
