Set for magical groove

By Tania Martin
LOCAL folk music fans will have a rare opportunity to listen to the well known duo of Michael Johnson and Megan Kenny, accompanied by David Jones, this Friday night.
This rare combination of artists will fuse world folk and ambient grove sounds at the Ranges Folk Club.
The club is held on the last Friday of every month featuring great acoustic music in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the Burrinja Gallery Cafe.
Michael Johnson is known for his work on the folk-harp, generating tranquil and mediative music, and flautist Megan Kelly has played with the Australian youth orchestra in Europe and Asia.
David Jones has been described as one of the most innovative and musical drummers in the world.
Bringing this magical trio together will give folk enthusiasts the opportunity to listen to compositions drawing on influences from countries ranging from Ireland and India to Spain and South America.
The trio will perform at the Burrinja Gallery Cafe on Friday, 26 May at 8pm, 351 Glenfern Road, Upwey.
Entry for the night is $10 for adults while children get free entry. A range of beer, wine, coffee and snacks is available.
