Spring blooms captured on film

ARTISTIC talent is set to blossom this spring in one of the region’s most beautiful gardens.
Visitors to Karwarra Australian Plant Garden can see Australia from multiple angles while breathing in its very essence at a photographic exhibition opening this weekend.
The Just a Moment exhibition will open at the Kalorama garden on Saturday, 23 September and will run until Sunday, 15 October.
Dr Bert Hoveling, vice-president of the Australian Photographic Society, will give a talk at the opening which begins at 11am on Saturday and will include morning tea.
Knox Photographic Society members took the photos, all of which have an Aussie theme in keeping with the garden’s dedication to native plants.
The society first showed its work at Karwarra two years ago.
Karwarra manager Marilyn Gray said the work at the inaugural exhibition was outstanding and this year promises to be even better.
Ms Gray said the exhibition was already generating interest and is taking place at a great time for the garden.
“October is our peak spring time,” she said. “We always have flowers here but it’s October when we really fire up.”
Photographers will be available on most days to talk to visitors and will present free one-hour lectures on photography on Sunday, 24 September and Sunday, 1 October at 2pm.
Karwarra will open from 10am until 4pm every day except Monday during the exhibition.
An entry fee of $3.50 will include the garden and exhibition.
Art and nature lovers can call 9728 4256 or visit Karwarra online at www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/karwarra for more information.
