SHERREE Creek of Monbulk is tickled pink after she raised more than $6000 for breast cancer research.
She held a Pink Ribbon brunch last month to raise money and awareness for cancer research but never expected the local community to be so generous.
For Mrs Creek finding a cure for breast cancer is very close to her heart.
She has watched both her mother and sister battle the disease and has been hosting Pink Ribbon fundraisers for the past three years.
Mrs Creek’s crusade to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research began two years ago when her sister was diagnosed with the disease and she decided to find some way to help.
In the first two years Mrs Creek raised $6000 but she has now doubled that with her recent Pink Ribbon brunch which was held on Saturday 20 October.
This year she sold specially made Monbulk Pink Ribbon T-shirts and pens.
Mrs Creek has now raised more than $12,000 in three years to help increase awareness and money for a cause which has deeply affect her family. She said more than 300 people attended the brunch. “It was a great day and it was fantastic to see so many people sharing their stories – everyone is affected in some way by breast cancer,” she said.
