A KALLISTA woman has announced she will donate the funds raised from opening her garden, Fernhill, to the public towards the Kallista Country Fire Authority Brigade.
Carol Ross will open her garden at 4 Anderson Street, Kallista, to the public on 25-26 February as a part of the Australian Open Garden Scheme (AGOS).
The AOGS is a non-profit organisation that was started in Victoria in 1987 with the aim to promote gardening across Australia.
Mrs Ross opens her garden to the public as a part of AGOS every two years and all funds raised are donated to the Kallista CFA brigade.
Mrs Ross said when she moved into her house 15 years ago, it was a classic renovator special, with the garden needing special attention.
“Over the years, I have belonged to a few garden societies overseas and have taken part in a seed-exchange program, so sometimes when I get new plants and seeds in from overseas, I strip out areas and renovate the garden,” she said.
Fernhill is a beautiful English-style garden that is filled with rare plants, including manicured hedges, rose-covered arbours, and trees that provide a framework for treasures in the garden.
Filled with many treasures and delights, Fernhill will be a great place to visit on the weekend, and will be open from 10am to 4.30pm.
