School targets learning styles

ALL children are different and this is obvious in their learning styles and abilities.
At The Knox School, pre-testing of all curriculum areas is considered vital in order to best cater for the child’s development.
Prep students are assessed in literacy, numeracy and auditory processing development before they commence school. Teachers are then able to plan individualised programs for each student.
Children’s social and emotional development, along with their academic growth, is paramount at The Knox School.
Students in the Junior School participate in a Pastoral Care Program and have access to a full time school counsellor if needed.
Staff members are trained in level two first aid, as well as CPR and have the training to deal with students who are diagnosed with anaphylaxis.
Parents are also encouraged to attend parent information evenings.
A carefully designed camping program is a feature of the Junior School and commences in year two with an overnight stay at Scienceworks.
Students then look forward to the outdoor education three-day program which is offered in year three and focuses on developing collaborative skills such as problem solving, team-building and experiencing challenges.
The year four students consolidate their inquiry-based learning unit on Gold with a three-day trip to Sovereign Hill.
Further opportunities for students to be challenged in a variety of camping and outdoor education experiences are provided in the Middle School years.
The environment at the Knox Junior School is extremely warm and welcoming.
Every child is valued and known by all staff members, and parents are also made to feel welcome.
A tour with the Principal is being held today, Tuesday 16 October.
