Next step for artist

FOR Myke Mollard having his first children’s storybook published was an expression of his passion for storytelling.
This foothills artist released his book called On a Monster’s Doorstep on Sunday, 12 August to coincide with Children’s Book Week.
The book is an illustrated tale of a family on a yachting holiday that takes cover from a storm near a coastal rainforest.
Two boys then go exploring in the rainforest and one stumbles into a billabong and encounters a mystical bunyip.
The boy escapes from the bunyip but his family does not believe his adventurous tale.
Mr Mollard said the focus of the book was on the mystery and magic of Australian landscapes and its creatures.
He said the release of his first children’s book was a new chapter in his life as an artist.
Mr Mollard has spent many years as an illustrator, mural artist and graphic designer but is now turning his talents to being an author.
He said On a Monster’s Doorstep has been inspired by his childhood dreams, boyhood adventures, camping holidays and his love of nature.
Mr Mollard hopes to release several more books by the end of the year.
