SAFFRON Cottage’s very own super chef Karthik Karanam is back, after spending the past two and a half years perfecting his skills in India.
Trained in Australia, Karthik has cooked at Saffron’s sister restaurant Miraaj. He also was an integral part of the team when setting up the kitchens of Saffron Cottage.
His inquisitive passion led him to have an in-depth understanding of the fascinating food of his homeland India where he worked in the kitchens of a prestigious hotel.
A specialist in South-East Asian cuisine, Karthik’s remarkable dishes are reminiscent of heritage recipes that have been passed through the generations.
He has mastered the use of indigenous Asian spices and herbs in his cooking and is especially skilled in creating local favourites. He has brought back with him a vision that is set to take Saffron Cottage by storm.
Karthik, together with the regular chef Ashok Bal, pastry chef Raj and Tandoori Chef Jeetu, are turning up the heat in the kitchen and patrons will be introduced to the new menu over summer.
Also, starting from Friday 7 December, Saffron Cottage will be opening for lunch on Fridays for the month of December and staying open throughout the day, making it the perfect venue to enjoy after-work drinks or light snacks.
The alfresco area is the ideal venue for functions; ask about the special food and beverage packages.
With a view of the setting sun on the hills, a cool drink on a balmy night and food which is simply sublime, Saffron Cottage says it is truly ‘bringing Sexy Back to the Hills’.
