Whitlock wins

CON Whitlock triumphed at the Emerald Golf Course last Saturday where a stableford event saw three golfers with the same tally at the end of play. The course rating was set at of 69.
Whitlock (27) won on a three-man countback from Martin Yeats (8) and Dave Hunt (16).
These results made Whitlock the over-all and C Grade winner, Yeats the A Grade winner and Dave Hunt clinched B Grade.
Peter Jones managed 38 points without winning, while Peter Stevens scored 37, Steve Miller 36, Leigh Morison and Peter Clowes 34 with Ross Martin and Steve Town, both with 33.
Stevens rounded out a very successful day by taking out the nearest the pin on the 12th and the pro pin on the 18th, Yeats was nearest on the 13th and Martin managed the deed on the 17th.
Last Tuesday’s competition, changed from Wednesday for the Melbourne Cup, saw a large field fight out for the Old Fellow’s Golf Cup.
Moss Fuller (34), on 41, drew with George Meier (31) and subsequently won the putt-out to take the trophy.
Ben Balfour won the putting comp with 28 putts, again.
Next Saturday a par competition is up for grabs.
