Big night for reception centre awards

TATRA Receptions hosted the Australian Bridal Industry Academy (ABIA) awards night on 29 May and had the wedding industry abuzz.
With 160 guests from all 32 sectors of the wedding industry including florists, other reception centres, jewellery suppliers and events coordinators, it was a night for Tatra to shine and show off.
“This was achieved and comments from guests ranged from ‘the best awards night ever’, ‘five star venue and staff’, to ‘the awards should be held at Tatra every year’,” said proud Tatra Receptions host Rodney Swart.
“Our group, which includes Poets Lane and Elizabethan Lodge in Blackburn, also won seven awards including the best venue award for Lyrebird Falls.”
The opening address was given by the chairman of the ABIA, John O’Meara, who congratulated the finalists on their achievements.
Mr O’Meara said the wedding industry is predominantly serviced by small family owned and operated businesses who have the passion, knowledge, experience and expertise to understand the individual needs of each couple and are therefore ideally suited to the provision of the fast disappearing one-on-one personal service.
“It was this experience and expertise which culminated in their nomination as finalists and winners of the coveted ABIA awards,” he said.
Mr O’Meara also said that the quality of products and services provided by wedding designers continued to excel each year with most finalists receiving a rating in excess of 95 per cent.
He also added that due to the nature of the industry, achieving such ratings was highly commendable.
“A wedding designer has but one day to get it right the first time – there are no second chances,” he said.
Tatra Receptions is at 1401 Mt Dandenong Tourist Road, Mt Dandenong.
