Earthly energy forum

CANDIDATES for the marginal seat of La Trobe will outline their vision for Australia’s energy future this Thursday, 15 November, as Belgrave’s Earthly Pleasures Café hosts a community forum on nuclear and renewable power.
While incumbent Liberal MP Jason Wood has declined to attend the event, Labor candidate Rodney Cocks, Greens’ Bree Taylor and Democrat Craig Beale will all be expressing their views on the issue. The night will begin with a screening of a documentary on energy issues entitled Climate of Hope, before the candidates have the chance to speak and field question from the audience.
Event organiser Simone Siracusa said the forum would be a great opportunity to hear the parties’ policies from the local candidates.
Ms Siracusa also noted her disappointment that Mr Wood had declined to attend.
Mr Wood, however, said that his own anti-nuclear position had been made quite clear, adding that he couldn’t accept all the invitations that he received in the lead-up to the election.
The documentary screening will begin at 6.30pm, with candidates speaking from 7pm onwards.
Earthly Pleasures Café is at 1627 Burwood Highway, Belgrave.
