WALK in and float away following a deeply relaxing yoga class at Kumbada Studio in Kalorama.
Dynamic, yet subtle, the yoga classes flow seamlessly and creatively with relaxation, postures and breathing to help you achieve lightness, clarity, peace and wellbeing.
Or perhaps you would prefer to leave the worries of everyday life behind as your true nature unfolds in a fun and expressive creative dance class where music, installations and props are used to guide you towards self-expression and self-discovery.
Either way, each class at Kumbada is a new and unique experience.
Specialising in yoga and creative dance, Kumbada principal Alison Cassidy has been teaching for more than 20 years and is a senior member of the International Yoga Teacher’s Association.
Alison originally trained as an actor and studied modern dance, mime and mask work and singing before studying yoga and creative dance and teaching in Warrandyte.
She now draws on her extensive theatrical training to inspire spontaneous and creative classes in yoga and creative dance.
Children’s creative dance classes are also held at Kumbada Studio.
“These classes are a fantastic way to engage and inspire young people, from toddlers to teenagers,” said Alison.
“For the under threes, classes are shared by a parent and provide a safe space to have fun together through movement and music.
“Children’s classes provide a freedom that allows young people to develop the grace, flexibility and the confidence to push their creative boundaries in a friendly, non-competitive environment.”
Kumbada Studio — Yoga and Creative Dance, opened by Alison in 1993, is at 6 Ridge Road in Kalorama.
Surrounded by the lush nature of the Dandenong Ranges, Kumbada Studio “embodies the perfect balance of inner peace and the outward expression of creativity”.
