GEMBROOK Primary School’s youngest students are excited about the opening of the new junior learning centre with the completion of stage one of the school’s $2.6-million redevelopment project.
The new learning centre consists of four permanent classrooms, an art room, and teacher support rooms for speech therapy lessons and guidance counsellors.
A new toilet block for the junior students was also part of stage one.
Principal Mark Carver said there was a real buzz around the school with the completion of stage one.
But he said it was not only the teachers and students who were excited. Past students and parents are also interested in the school’s redevelopment project.
Mr Carver said stage two of the project was well under way and should be finished by October.
Stage two includes the construction of the senior school classrooms, an administration block and transforming the original school building into a library. Mr Carver said anyone wanting to check out the new school building was invited to take a tour.
The school is holding an open day for next year’s prep students on Saturday, 2 June, and anyone is welcome to come along and see the new developments at the school, from 10am to noon.
