Songs of life, love and land

LISTENING to the strains of hills musician Cyril Moran will be a night not to be missed at the next instalment of the Ranges Burrinja Folk Club.
This well-known and loved singer-songwriter will take centre stage at the Burrinja Gallery Café later this month.
Moran is well known for his lilting, intoxicating voice and beautiful melodic songs of life, love and the land.
He migrated from Ireland in 1989 and now calls the hills home and for many years has performed with the band Heartwood.
In 2004 he was named as winner of the Port Fairy Folk Festival’s songwriters award for his powerful Freedom Song.
At this month’s instalment of the folk club Moran will sing a collection of his favourites as well as songs from his latest album, Summer Rain.
Hills people should not miss this great night of contemporary folk music and a chance to see Moran live in concert.
Special guest Andrew S and Friends will join Cyril in this great night of entertainment at the folk club on Friday, 31 August, at 8pm.
The folk club is held on the last Friday of every month and features great acoustic music in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the Burrinja Gallery Café at 351 Glenfern Road, Upwey.
Entry costs $10 for adults, $7 for concession cardholders and children are free.
