EMERALD Police are on the hunt for a group of youths after a six-foot statue of a pizza man was stolen.
The statue was sitting outside the front of T-Mans Pizza shop in Main Street, Emerald, on Thursday, 26 April, when it was taken by a group of five or six teenagers.
Shop owner Travis Folwell said it was incredible that the group got away with the six-foot statue.
Mr Folwell, who wasn’t at the shop at the time, said shortly after 10pm a group of youths picked up the statue and started to run away with it.
However the two who were carrying the figure dropped the pizza man and ran off.
But two other youths continued to drag the statue down the street.
Mr Folwell said the statue was dragged past six shops along Main Street and was surprised that the youths weren’t stopped.
The pizza man statue had replaced another smaller one that had been damaged when the pizza shop burnt down last year.
Senior Constable Frank Bailey of Emerald Police is calling for any witnesses to contact police.
He said the pizza man statue was six-feet tall, made of fibreglass and had a white hat.
Anyone who may have seen or heard anything should contact Emerald Police on 5968 4422 or Crime Stoppers of 1800 333 000.
