HILLS primary schools have shared in a $37,000 cash boost for maintenance work including the extension of a toilet block and upgraded light fittings.
Monbulk MP James Merlino last week announced that five schools in the Dandenong Ranges would receive a share of the State Government’s $16 million school maintenance funding.
The Patch Primary School will receive $25,000 to extend its toilet block while Kallista Primary School has been allocated $7300 for lighting fixtures and to fix the eroding banks of its oval.
Michael McClare, principal of The Patch Primary School, said the funding was great news.
He said the school received $55,000 for the toilet upgrade last year but that amount wasn’t enough.
“Now we have this additional funding we can extend the toilets,” he said.
Ferny Creek Primary School will also receive $1200, Menzies Creek Primary School $520 and Mt Dandenong Primary School $2800 for lighting and guttering maintenance.
