KNOX State Emergency Service (SES) has gratefully accepted a cheque courtesy of the 2005 Mayoral Charity Ball.
In one of her last acts as mayor Jenny Moore presented the $6832 cheque from the ball proceeds to Knox SES on Friday, 11 November.
Knox SES deputy controller Karen Afif said the funds would go towards rescue equipment.
“The unit was thrilled with such a massive donation. It shows that Knox appreciates the work we’ve been doing,” she said.
Ms Moore called the donation ‘a small thank you’ for the work Knox SES did for the community.
“No one wants to call on the Knox SES, but we’re all so glad that they’re there if we need them.
“Knox is so lucky to have such dedicated volunteers at Knox SES and I am very proud to have been able to support them during this mayoral term,” she said.
Ms Moore thanked Ferntree Gully Holden and its dealer principal, Darryl Pribut, for sponsoring this year’s ball.
“Ferntree Gully Holden is a great corporate citizen and we were pleased to have them sponsor this year’s charity ball,” she said.
A total of 340 people attended this year’s ball which took place at Rembrandts in Wantirna on Saturday, 6 August.
