Berwick down Shredders

Sherbrooke Junior Sherbrooke Junior

THE U11 Sherbrooke Shredders travelled to Berwick’s new ground on Saturday but failed to triumph.
The Shredders were quick out of the starting blocks working the ball to the wings, which lead to an immediate attack but were unable to score.
Berwick counter-attacked and goaled and they followed up soon after with another. Sherbrooke did not drop their heads and worked at reducing the deficit eventually scoring a goal through sheer persistence. Unfortunately time ran out and the Shredders lost 1-2.
Meanwhile, the U12 Sherbrooke Stingrays defeated Healesville 2-1 at Baynes Park.
Lachy Webb was lethal up forward and mid way through the first half he was able to get on the end of a long clearance by Sam Beeby-Peet and gave the Healesville goalie no chance to slot through his first. After half time Lachy added another and the Stingrays led 2-0.
Dylan Weir, Harry Scott, Tim Ferguson and Tom Allisey were carving up the midfield, the backs were steadfast, and Daniel Matic and Nathan Grover were busy out wide. But Healesville came back and scored a hard fought goal about half way through the second half. The Stingrays eventually held on for a great 2-1 win.
After last week’s great effort against the top team the U10 Sherbrooke Pumas travelled to Knox to play the second-placed team. A slow start saw the Pumas down 2-0 but after this they knuckled down and really gave themselves some great chances to score. Knox scored another after half time but the Pumas raised their game for the second week in a row.
