MONBULK held on to second spot on the Provisional League 1SE ladder on Saturday despite crashing 3-1 to Berwick.
After conceding a goal early in the first half, Monbulk hit back soon after with a fine strike from Chris Cullimore.
In an even contest, both sides battled to gain the lead until Berwick hit the front just before half time with a penalty.
The second half saw both sides go close with several chances as Monbulk fought hard to draw level, but they couldn’t get the break they needed before Berwick hit their third just before full time to put the game beyond doubt.
The Reserves’ recent run of good form also came to an end as two early strikes from Berwick gave them a 2-0 win.
