PLAYING away to Pakenham, Emerald A Grade lost the toss and was sent into field. Opening with Clinton Marsh and Daniel Porter, Emerald got off to a good start and picked up two quick wickets and at 20 overs Pakenham were 2/25.
Emerald bowled well and at tea Pakenham were 3/79. After tea, Pakenham picked up the run rate but due to good bowling from Rod Smith and Quinten Lucas Emerald were able to pick up regular wickets and at 80 overs Pakenham were 9/238.
Best of the bowlers were Rod Smith 2/57 off 17, Clinton Marsh 2/29 off 15. Good fielding from Emerald also contributed to 3 run outs.
B Grade: Emerald faced Cranbourne Meadows at home and was asked to bowl.
Emerald opened with Cameron Williams and Geoff Worrell and the pair bowled well picking up two wickets. The bowlers toiled tirelessly without a lot of success and after the 56th over Cranbourne declared at 5/265.
Best of bowlers were Cameron Williams 3/41 off 14 and Ang Pepi 2/60 off 13. Emerald went into bat for 11 overs and lost a wicket in the fourth over when Jarred Gillespie was run out without score.
Emerald then faced out the overs and are 1/30 overnight with Worrell 17 not out and Alenson on 7.
D Grade: Emerald travelled down to Maryknoll to play Nar Nar Goon. Losing the toss Emerald bowled and opened up with Andrew Rolfs and Robbie Stewart, who picked up a quick wicket in the second over.
Jay Kleinsmit came into the attack and with Andrew Rolfs they bowled through till tea with the score on 6 for 77. After tea, Robert Wynne came on and bowled well to also pick up a well-deserved wicket.
Nar Nar Goon was bowled out for 110. Best for Emerald Jay Kleinsmit 4/32 off 16 and Andrew Rolfs 2/18 off 16. Emerald then went into bat for 12 overs and lost the wicket of Robbie Stewart for 5. At stumps Emerald were 1/21 with M. Valeueen 7 not out and Yo Rolink 5 not out.
E Grade: Emerald played Pakenham at home and bowled. They started well and picked up regular wickets with Michael Pepi and Kade Ely doing the damage.
Emerald bowled consistently and bowled Pakenham out in the 55th over for 121. Pick of the bowlers were Jess Mather 3/14 off 13 and Michael Pepi 3/27 off 14. Emerald then had a bat and lost three quick wickets with no one making a start and at stumps were 3/18.
F Grade: Emerald played Lyndhurst at home this week. Emerald bowled and Lyndhurst managed the total of 6/166 with Lynden Richardson taking 3/24 off 6. Emerald then batted and only managed a total of 62 when they were bowled out in 62 overs.
All of the batsmen struggled and Jim Bourke top scored with 14 followed by Gary Santini with 13.
U16 Black: Having the hard task of chasing 163 Emerald started badly losing two quick wickets.
Emerald continued to struggle with the bat and lost regular wickets and was eventually bowled out for 89. Euan Thoms top scored with 29 followed by Wynne 13 and Lucas 12..
U16 Red: Emerald bowlers put in a great performance with excellent fielding and lots of verbal encouragement.
Emerald needed to defend 153 and did so in great style bowling Officer out for 87. Best bowlers were Corey Sweeney 3/14, Byron Sidwell 2/22 and Tim 2/18.
Emerald then had a bat and got to 1/54 with James Bourke making 31 with Brock Barlow 12 not out and Alistar Mair 1 not out.
U14 Black: Emerald was defending 110 and started well picking up two quick wickets. They continued on and bowled the opposition out for 70 to win by 40 runs. Best bowlers were Tom Baldock 3/3 and Tye Johnston 2/3.
