The centre, which opened in 1983, provides a beautiful and comfortable environment for relaxation and participating in the varied activities.
Open to the 55 and over age group, Emerald Evergreen provides the opportunity for its members to meet other people and to avoid loneliness.
“We want to stop people staring at their own four walls,” said Emerald Evergreen president Bill Appel.
“The centre is a wonderful, social, friendly and caring place where we enjoy the interaction with other people, making new friends and taking part in games such as bingo, dominoes and cards.
“A variety of other activities including exercise classes and craft classes keep people occupied for hours,” he said.
Day trips are also organised and bus trips for one or more days away are very popular.
The services of a chiropodist and hairdresser are also available.
Emerald Evergreen is on the corner of Anne and Church Street, Emerald. The centre is open from 10am to 4pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week.
