Hills alive to global beat

THE hills will be tapping to a global beat this weekend as the Dandenong Ranges branch of Oxfam Australia presents its second Global Views benefit concert.
Featuring an eclectic line-up of local musicians, the concert will raise awareness and funds to support Oxfam Australia’s indigenous and international projects.
A highlight of the night will surely be the performance of the Emerald-based duo Riley Jordan and Cres Crisp.
Riley Jordan’s warm vocals and guitar combine with Cres Crisp’s boogie-woogie keys to create a soulful mix of folk, honkytonk and heartbreak blues.
Other acts will include the Berwick-based Andean band Libertad and the a capella group Che Pena.
After the overwhelming success of last year’s three-act concert, Global Views is guaranteed to be music to the ears – and fuel for the mind – of patrons from across the hills.
The concert will be held at Upwey Community Hall on Sunday 14 October from 2pm.
Tickets are available at the door for $15.
