Light on fire twirling

Circus performers Robin Carbery and Rochelle Dennis are hosting fire-twirling workshops this month.Circus performers Robin Carbery and Rochelle Dennis are hosting fire-twirling workshops this month.

HILLS people can now learn the secrets behind the art of fire twirling.
Following a successful first series of twirling workshops in Belgrave earlier this year, hills people will get another chance to give it a go.
Hosted by local group Circus Folk, the fire-twirling workshops will not only teach people the art of twirling but will focus on the safety aspects of working with fire.
Workshops will be held at the Upwey Community Hall on Wednesday nights for five weeks from 15 August.
Regular fire nights will also be held at the Belgrave Town Park for experienced members to light up and show off their twirling talents.
Circus Folk member Rochelle Dennis said the workshops were a great way for local circus people to connect with each other.
Ms Dennis said the workshops cost $15 per session or $12 for Circus Folk members.
People interested in joining in the fun of fire twirling should call Ms Dennis on 9753 6234.
