A MONBULK woman has expressed her disgust over the debasement of her tree guards on her front nature strip.
Donna Grundy said just before Christmas someone had deliberately squashed down several tree guards on her nature strip which were protecting native grass she had planted.
Ms Grundy said on several occasions the tree guards had been either pulled out or flattened.
She has questioned who would gain anything from such a wilful act of destruction.
Ms Grundy also had a native mint plant pulled out of her front garden a few weeks before the tree guard incident.
“I fail to understand why someone would do something like that. It’s just a senseless act and really there is no point,” she said.
Ms Grundy said she has spent well over $1000 to try to create a native garden for the local birds and wildlife and a place where her son, Jack, 2, could play.
But she said it just broke her heart that someone would come along and destroy what she was trying to create as a natural environment.
Ms Grundy said this latest act of vandalism hadn’t stopped her and she would continue to transform the front garden into a habitat for local birds, wildlife and insects.
She has warned other residents to keep a close eye on their gardens as they could be the next victim of a similar ‘senseless’ act.
