MOUNT Evelyn Scout Group, earlier this month, presented Mount Evelyn Primary School a certificate of appreciation for their contribution in the 2013 Scout Raffle.
Joey/Cub Scout Leader Jodie Park said the Scouts of Victoria ran a raffle for Scout groups every year and in order to build relationships with the schools they opened up a raffle for schools.
“The schools get to keep 100 per cent of the profits – when they sell a ticket, they get to keep the whole $2 from each one,” she said.
“Scouting and the school have a common goal to bring out the best in the children and raise the adults of tomorrow.
“The raffle is one way we can give back to the community.”
Mount Evelyn Primary School principal Scott Tully said the school had committed to taking part in the Scout raffle again this year.
“We pride ourselves on being a community school in that we are involved in a lot of various community organisations,” he said.
“We see ourselves as part of the community and we pride ourselves in having a community presence.
“We have a lot of students who are part of Scouts, and they love it when their school and community come together.”
Ms Park said she loved that the school was so keen to foster a bond with the group and it was a wonderful way to show students what a great organisation Scouts were to be involved in.
