Bargains galore for a cause

The early birds rush in to grab some bargains.

Hundreds of bargain-hunters gave Mount Evelyn Fire Brigade a helping hand on Saturday 13 October.

The CFA crew sold dozens of donated items at its annual garage sale.

Organiser Judi Coles said members started setting up about 6am, and the buyers rushed the stalls at 7am.

“It was pretty steady all day until about 2pm,” she said.

The brigade held raffles throughout the day, offered mixed boxes of items for $5 and even donated items to people in need at the end of trade.

Ms Coles said the major fund-raiser was a success, and the money would go to the crew’s vehicle replacement fund and to buy new safety equipment.

“We constantly need to upgrade it, and we don’t get funding,” she said.
