The third Halloween on the Green, organised by The Philanthropic Collective will be held from 12-7pm on Saturday, 26 October at the Ferny Creek Reserve.

Philanthropic Collective Event Director, Andrew Fillip-Gautier, said the event would have storytelling, circus performers, music and trick-or-treating, among other attractions.

“This event originally started to fill a bit of a gap,” Mr Fillip-Gautier said.

“We know that a lot of children in the hills – especially those in the 10-12 age group – like to go trick-or-treating, and that some families really embrace Halloween. Halloween on the Green gives them a safe place to do this, some entertainment for the whole family and the chance to raise some money for local schools as well as holding a great event.”

“We’ll have schools running games and food, a haunted house, carnival and pony rides, prizes in our Best Dressed competition, Fletchers dunking machine as well as community stalls from the Scouts, CFA, Bendigo Bank, Australian Red Cross Blood Service, Ferny Creek Tennis Club and don’t miss the Le Pine Funerals Mayors Parade so there’ll be plenty for everyone.”

Halloween on the Green received funding support through Council’s 2019 Grants for Community round.

Yarra Ranges Mayor, Tony Stevenson, encouraged community members to come along.

“It’s been heartening to see Halloween on the Green be so supported by the community, with a large turnout every year of people in their best costumes,” Cr Stevenson said.

“The event isn’t just a fun and safe place to take the family for Halloween celebrations, it’s also a fantastic fundraiser for participating schools in the Dandenongs.

“I’m proud that we’ve been able to support Halloween on the Green, and a number of community events through this year’s Grants for Community, and I look forward to being there on the day in my costume, too.”

A free sensory-friendly hour will be held from 11am-noon before the event officially opens.

Tickets to Halloween on the Green are $6, and children under three receive free entry.
