A 24-year-old Knoxfield woman has been arrested and remanded for several alleged mail thefts on 8 December 2021.

The woman is alleged to have stolen mail from Longfellow Ave and Croydondale Drive in Mooroolbark, and for attempting to steal mail from Warren Court.

She was has also been charged with an alleged theft of alcohol from Boronia on 7 December and committing offences whilst on bail.

The woman was arrested on the 17 December and has been remanded to appear at Ringwood Magistrates Court on the 14 January, 2022.

Senior Constable Holmberg from Yarra Ranges CIU said the offences are quite opportunistic and can have huge ramifications for victims.

“It’s not only the inconvenience of having mail stolen, but potential identity theft leaves victim’s exposed for months, if not years to come,” he said.

“A simple padlock on the mail box flap, or installing a letter box with a lockable door is a cheap insurance policy against such offences.”
