EMERALD State Emergency Service last week showed its appreciation for the ongoing contributions of community groups.
SES volunteer Leigh Johnson said businesses and community groups who make up the Emerald Winterfest Committee (EWC) were thanked at the special night.
Mr Johnson said the EWC had worked tirelessly to raise money for a new storm trailer for the SES, which is used to help in storm damage operations.
Emerald SES presented certificates of appreciation to several groups and individuals including the town’s police sergeant Chris Vincent, Don Hodge, and Greg Smith of Mitre 10 and Clematis CFA.
Paternoster Winery, Avalon Castle and Rob Bekins of Denny and Taylor were also given certificates.
Mr Johnson said the SES had also extended its gratitude to Brad and Cath from Hillbilly Pizza for their continuing support. During their busiest day since February, Hillbilly Pizza donated a hot meal and drinks for all volunteers from both Emerald and Springvale SES units on Sunday, 14 August.
