THOMAS the Tank Engine worked up a head of steam on Sunday for the fifth annual kids fun run.
More than 600 children up to the age of 12 took up the challenge to race Thomas the Tank Engine.
Race committee member Ken Miller said there was a huge increase in the number of race entries with almost 200 more than last year.
He said the crowd also surpassed expectations with more than 3000 people attending the fun run.
Mr Miller said the fun run raised more than $50,000 which will go towards the development of a new children’s play area at the cancer wing of the Monash Hospital.
Meanwhile, the day wasn’t complete without a visit from special guest Tyler Fishlock, one of Thomas the Tank Engine’s biggest fans.
Tyler had both his eyes removed after being diagnosed with eye cancer and when being fitted for new eyes he asked for blue ones because that is Thomas the Tank Engine’s colour.
After visiting with Sir Topham Hat (Bob Barr), Tyler went for a short train ride on Thomas.
Race still draws crowds
