Raiders sign golden Aussie

THE Knox Ford Raiders have added another Australian Opal to their playing ranks with World Championship gold medallist Emma Randall signing with the club last week.
Randall is likely to complete a stint in Europe prior to stepping on court for the Raiders, but coach Mark Holland has signalled that she’ll arrive with two key attributes — fitness and form.
“Emma brings plenty of experience to the group and will join us once she’s completed her current contract in Italy,” said Holland.
“If you look at our past record in recruiting, it’s great for the basketball community that Knox is able to attract national players. It also goes a long way to helping with the development or our younger players.”
Fresh from a championship-winning season with Samara in Russia, Randall is in good form and will attract plenty of support from the stands at Knox Converse Stadium.
In other news, the Knox Ford Raiders men will step up a level when they host Albury-Wodonga this Saturday from 2.15pm.
Coming off a win against Ringwood and a loss at Werribee, the Raiders will use the clash with the Bandits as another stepping stone towards a round one showdown with Southern Districts Spartans on Saturday, March 3.
Meanwhile, Knox Basketball has commenced its popular X-Hoops and Mini Raiders programs for junior players, which cater for beginners and young developing players.
Held from 4pm at Knox Converse Stadium in Boronia each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the programs are open to children aged between 5 and 12.
