BELGRAVE’S Mater Christi College prides itself on providing students with the latest in teaching methods and resources.
The college’s latest initiative – electronic whiteboards – has taken learning in the classroom to a whole new level.
“Electronic whiteboards provide the ability to engage a group of students quickly using a range of e-tools and e-sources,” said principal Mary Fitz-Gerald.
“So far it has been used to give full class groups access to internet sites, gather immediate answers and news updates, access film clips and increase interaction and engagement with lesson materials.”
With 19 of the planned 25 electronic whiteboards already installed, teachers and students are already excited about this new technology.
“Our philosophy at Mater Christi is to create a dynamic and relevant learning environment and the use of the electronic whiteboard is very much in line with this approach.
“This focus on increasing the capacity for global networks and interaction also fits the model of the Middle Years Program (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate introduced by the college this year,” said Ms Fitz-Gerald.
