Stand-up rolls on

By Tania Martin
HILLS people looking for some light comic relief should look no further as three top comedians take centre stage at the Burrinja Gallery Cafe in Upwey.
A night of fun a frivolity will keep people in stiches of laughter as Rachel Burger, Duff, and Dave Thornton present one of the year’s funniest nights of stand-up comedy on Thursday, 16 August.
The queen of stand-up comedy Rachel Berger will be the master of ceremonies for the night which promises to be a bag full of laughs.
Berger is widely known as Australia’s finest stand-up comedian who has a talent for offering a hilarious and poignant commentary on human foibles.
Her sharp observations have made her an extremely popular performer both for live and television audiences across Australia and overseas.
Fellow funny man Duff, who promises to be one of the maddest if not funniest men to take the stage at the Burrinja Gallery, will join Berger. Duff has been described in the comedy bible Groggy Squirrel as one of Melbourne’s best comedians. He will be joined on stage by rising star Dave Thornton who was voted the best newcomer at the 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
To finish off a night of fabulous fun and frivolity, local comics will have the chance to impress the audience.
This night of stand-up comedy at Burrinja Gallery, 351 Glenfern Road, Upwey, is not to be missed for those looking for a night of fun and laughter.
Tickets are now on sale and cost $25 for adults or $20 for concession cardholders.
The Burrinja Gallery Café will be open before the show, which starts at 8.30pm, and after the performance for anyone who wants some coffee, cake or something more substantial. To make a booking call Burrinja Gallery on 9754 8723.
