Crisis cash boost

EMERGENCY response procedures in Knox will be further revolutionised by a vital funding investment from the Federal Government.
Knox City Council last week announced that it had received three separate grants from the government – totalling $94,000 – to improve emergency response technology, staff training and to implement an emergency exercise training day.
Mayor Jim Penna said the successful grant applications would ensure that Knox remained at the frontline of emergency response planning.
“Knox Council is well recognised for its policies and plans to deal with potential municipal emergencies and this funding will help us further develop those plans,” he said.
The council was keen recognise the support of La Trobe MP Jason Wood in advocating for the funding on Knox’s behalf.
