Huntsmen have runs on the board

By Iain Harley

IN A TURN up from last week, conditions were well suited to cricket.
The Basin compiled 244 at Lysterfield’s Lakesfield Reserve.
Huntsmen bats Luckman (77), and James (48) were the main contributors.
With both captains leading from the front Matt Dempsey took four wickets for the Beavers.
At the close of play Lysterfield were 2/26 and The Basin would have been pleased with their day’s play.
Ladder leaders Rowville were bowled out for 204 in their home game against St John’s Tecoma.
The Hawks were in trouble early at 6/77 but a solid performance by Dave Kennett (62) and support from the tail helped them recover.
Perennial performer Marc Hardy took 5/74 of 32 overs.
At stumps the Saints were 0/11 and will need to bat well to cause an upset.
Upwey were dismissed in the 77th over for 138 in what must have been a slow day at Kings Park.
Justin Smith bowled brilliantly for a return of 6/33.
The Kings bowling attack shared the workload with 32 maidens.
Former Melbourne all rounder Leigh Alford top scored in the Sharks game against Belgrave.
Evergreen Mal Francis chimed in with 35.
The Magpies shared the wickets around with Goodger, Toms and Hill all taking 3.
Knox Gardens showed improvement just failing to bat the day out against Ferntree Gully. The Falcons have 133 on the board and the Blues start the day at 0/6.
At HV Jones Reserve, Knoxfield knocked up 196 against Mountain Gate thanks to performances by Trent Scholfield and Ben Morris.
Dave Harris was the standout for the Gators taking 5/51.
In Decoite Sheild, Monbulk made 7/292 against Upper Ferntree Gully thanks to the efforts of 18yearold Michael Langworthy with 107*.
The Basin has taken First innings points against Johnson Park.
South Belgrave are chasing 155 against Ferntree Gully.
Lysterfield and Eildon Park both have competitive scores against Upwey and Footballer respectively.
Other scores of note: In Division 5 Belgrave made 6/518 with President Dave Hoppner making 178 against Wandin East.
