Time and place for calendar photos

By MELISSA MEEHAN

IT’S said that a picture is worth a thousand words – what does your picture say?
The Dandenong Ranges Community Bank Group wants to know what photographs of the Dandenong Ranges say about the area and is calling for submissions to its annual photo competition.
For the sixth year, successful locals who fancy themselves behind the camera have the opportunity to have their photo featured in the bank’s annual calendar.
Bank chairman Peter Marke said the calendar competition had been a great way for the bank to connect with the community.
“Everyone is very enthusiastic about the competition,” he said.
“We get inquiries starting in November from people who want a copy of the next year’s calendar.
“It not only showcases local talent, but showcases the Dandenong Ranges, too.”
Mr Marke said that the calendar was sent overseas and interstate as well as being made available to locals.
“It’s very popular,” he said.
“And we have a junior category for budding young photographers, too.”
Entries close on 31 July, so get snapping.
Copies of the entry form are available from the bank’s four branches in Upwey, Belgrave, Cockatoo and Olinda or from the community bank websites www.bendigobank.com.au/upwey or email admin@drcbg.com.au.
