IT will be a toasty winter ahead for members of Emerald’s RSL club with a local banking branch donating funds for a new gas log fireplace.
The Cockatoo/Gembrook Community Bank branch has granted the RSL $2300 to warm the newly renovated building.
Due to be installed shortly, regular RSL goers – including senior citizens, retirees, veterans and community members – are pleased with the new addition.
RSL club president Peter Maloney thanked the Community Bank for funding the project.
“The fireplace will enhance the ambiance of the rooms as well as reduce the cost of heating and we look forward to many years of service from this unit,” he said.
In addition to the fireplace, the RSL also welcomed a new date/time clock from the bank to its room.
Community Bank Group’s Dandenong Ranges chairman Peter Marke proudly invests most of the banks’ profits into the local community.
The Emerald RSL joins a list of other recipients such as community, sporting and recreational group UT CRASH Project, the Dandenong Ranges Group of Fire Brigades and Menzies Creek Primary School.
The Dandenong Ranges banking group has donated over $1.3 million in grants to over 280 different local groups over the past 16 years.
